Tyler’caster Part Two
Well, I’m finally starting to get some pictures from the guys down at RS Guitar Works in Lexington. The body has been under good hands for a couple months now. After re-sealing the body and prepping for paint, it’s been hit with several coats of white, and lake placid blue. On top of that, it has some spot paint for when we go back and distress it some. This will give it the appearance that the arm wear, parallel the top horn, has been slowly rubbed away revealing a small line of white before it bleeds back into the original color.
This will cure for several more weeks before they can even get into polishing, and then distressing. Currently, the paint code is an exact match to what was used on all early 60’s telecasters. Although I won’t be putting any NOS parts on this tele, you will have a hard time telling the difference. Or atleast, that is my hope.
Aint’ it purty though!?
We’re not crazy…
I mean, everyone needs a place to stick their guitars. I’m sure that a case under your bed or in the closet is very ordinary. However, its nice to break that mold and create an environment suitable for the enthusiast of lacquered wood and tone. So yea – that’s what we did. Wall of Guitars.
Top 10 Records of 2008.
So this took me a little longer than I thought. But these are my top 10 albums of 2008. I picked these because they either got stuck on repeat while driving to Nashville, or I spent too many days trying to dissect the lyrics of many. Regardless, they are by far my favorite records of last year. Enjoy.
1. Dear And The Headlights – Heavy Hooves
2. House Of Heroes – The End Is Not The End
3. Brad Paisley – 5th Gear
4. Ray Lamontagne – Till The Sun Turns Black
5. City & Colour – Bring Me Your Love
6. Jonezetta – Cruel To Be Young
7. Taylor Swift – Fearless
8. Vampire Weekend – Self Titled
9. Relient K – The Bird And The Bee Sides
10. The Academy Is – Fast Times At Barrington High
Free will is a beast!
I’ve always worked hard for the things I wanted. Which I feel like is a good thing. Being able to understand your strengths and how to acquire things can be a good commodity. The next time an opportunity comes around to pursue something, you already know what you are capable of.
In retrospect, you can also find out what you are incapable of. And in that sense, this is the first time I have looked back and realized what I am incapable of doing. It doesn’t dishearten me at all though! It simply reminds me what I’m not good at, or what I have no business trying to change. People for example; I have no business trying to change a person for my favor. Regardless of how much I think I can impact them, love them, be there for them – - free will is too strong.
All in all, things work out in the strangest of ways. It’s kind of like I proved myself wrong, unintentionally. No thought at all put into it, it just turned out that way.
Coincidence? Hardly.
I’m also reminded that I can’t drink coffee, browse the internet and eat sushi for three months. I’ll kill myself from boredom…
Weddings, Nashville, Time Off
Geez, I should probably update this thing more often, huh?
So, Relient K is taking some time off to record some new tunes which is awesome. Along with that gives me some time off to do other things. Those include finding management for my own band, and possibly taking the time to hang out with my friends in Louisville. I haven’t had enough time to chill, and now its here and I don’t know what to do with myself.
Christopher Lane is now married to Nichole Jackson. Crazy, but I’m happy for both of them! The wedding was amazing and everyone seemed to have a great time. People cried, laughed, danced… it was fun.
A few days back I was able to hang out with some good friends in Nashville. I think I know my way around that city better than my own, it is strange.
